Meet Tracey Laverne Lucas
Tracey Laverne Lucas was born on April 19, 1966 to the late Aaron J. Lucas, Jr. and Colean B. Lucas at the Columbia Hospital for Women in Washington, DC. As the daughter of a US Navy Veteran, Tracey’s father was adamant about instilling morals and values which are the keys to lifelong development. By encouraging open dialogue and intentional teaching, Tracey’s father empowered her to carry these principles into every aspect of her life. Tracey graduated from the University of the District of Columbia with an Associate’s of Science Degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Social Behavior; and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science – Cum Laude. Her career started with the Federal Government where she was afforded awesome opportunities to work for the U.S. Department of Justice and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services during the 9/11 attacks. Also, Tracey worked for the General Services Administration’s Electronic Services Division. Furthermore, Tracey also worked for Howard University Hospital where she assisted some of the most vulnerable D.C. residents to ensure they were able to obtain a health insurance plan and receive much needed medical care.
Tracey actively serves the homeless community by delivering meals on the streets of D.C. and has periodically volunteered for So Others Might Eat (SOME) to inspire hope for the less fortunate. She has had the opportunity to also work with D.C. Government to continue her services for its residents. She worked for the Metropolitan Police Department, Office of Citizen Complaint, Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Social Services where she was able to allocate money, food and health insurance to D.C. residents. Tracey built her life around public service and has acquired first-hand experience on how to improve the way of life for everyone living in this city.
In her leisure time, Tracey loves to hand dance, play spades and bowl. Also, she enjoys many outdoor activities such as road trips, beach fun and live concerts.
